Yup. What we put ON our bodies and IN our bodies matters in ways we are just learning about.

Optimal gut health has become a prominent focus in 21st century health. Having too many bad critters hanging out in the gut has been linked to numerous problems – including autism, obesity, diabetes, allergies, autoimmunity, depression, cancer, heart disease, fibromyalgia, eczema, and asthma. The links between chronic illness and an imbalanced microbiome (or gut bacteria) keep growing every day. Having a healthy gut should mean more to you than being annoyed by a little bloating or heartburn. It becomes central to your entire health and connected to everything that happens in your body. Your gut is a huge chemical factory that helps to digest food, produce vitamins, regulate hormones, excrete toxins, produce healing compounds and keep your gut healthy. Not surprisingly, good bacteria love healthy whole, organic, plant-based foods, ones that are high in fiber and nutrients and contain no artificial ingredients. But what we put on our bodies also affects our guts. Taking antibiotics can alter our gut health for the worse, and so can using antibiotic-based products. This is why I recommend you avoid the following:⠀
- Antibiotic soap⠀
- Alcohol-based hand sanitizers, like Purell⠀
- Even dishwasher soap is thought to be bad for our microbiome, because it kills germs too well⠀
Remember, your gut health is central to your entire health and connected to everything that happens in your body.⠀

I’m confused.should this be a story or in my feed? The color coordination is just ... off 🙄 OMG, whatever happened to that homesteading idea?
Anyway, masking and drinking some sparkling ACV while whipping up dinner. #livingonthewildside #insideoutbeauty #skincare #dailydetox #shred10
Matcha tea 🍵 I look forward to brewing my cup every day. Its replaced my morning cup of coffee and that’s a win, because while coffee acidifies your body (that’s actually worse in AM), matcha does the opposite. It has an alkalinizing effect, much like lemon 🍋 water.
Did you know one cup of matcha 🍵 is equivalent to 10 cups of green tea in terms of antioxidant content? 🙌
In fact everything green tea does, matcha does better. For example:
1. Reduces risk of cancer
2. Speeds metabolism w/o jitters
3. Boosts immunity
4. Slashes risk of type 2 diabetes
5. Strengthens teeth & reduces risk of cavities
6. Aids prevention of fatty liver disease
7. May prevent Alzheimers
8. Improves skin health
9. Supports stress management and relaxation
I’m not sure why I’ve been so slow to turn my smoothies into Smoothie Bowls. This Peanut Butter & Banana Smoothie Bowl looks like dessert and tastes like dessert, but is low in sugar and loaded with nutrients (broccoli sprouts, pomegranate, spirulina and more) plus protein and fiber. It’s a great way to start the day. .
